I finally finished this Addendum painting that began two years ago, as I'm resetting for the next project.
Since this is the 11th Addendum, doing a brief lookback on the series so far:
• Painting Addendums channel very spontaneous energy. The series originated with wanting to avoid wasting paint, but I've come to enjoy this avenue to paint more organically and in the moment. I particularly like the tactile sense of painting swathes of color with clean sweeping edges. I also like the freedom to go fast, not fix anything and try out simple ideas (like #9 Cappadocia which didn't make the cut for a proper project).
• However, Addendums are typically not suitable for display. Some can turn out expectedly good (#1 Paint Mop, #6 Unicorn) or surprisingly good (#8 Planter, #9 Cappadocia), but some are surprisingly and offensively ugly (#7 Octopus, #10 Sandcastle). A key determinant is the colors and amounts available, which don't always lend themselves to the predetermined concept.

• A few potential solves are to do slightly more pre-planning based on the colors available, keep color blocks smaller (and hold unused paint for another Addendum instead of using up all the color every time), and add polishing details that will make the final piece more complete.
• But this will still leave the occasional runt to intake any remaining mismatched paints, which is likely what happened with the latest Addendum #11. Otherwise, the Teddy Bear idea was fairly cute, though I wish I made the dark brown a floor. In the future, I will consider laying down backgrounds horizontally, instead of going up one side and down the other.
• In terms of concept, the Addendums have evolved to blockier imagery over time and met with mixed results, due to a scarcity of flowy ideas. I'm still trying to remember that perfect Addendum idea from a dream that has henceforth eluded me. Perhaps I could try Small boat on a lake vis a vis In The Soop, Soft serve cone, Whoville-inspired fluffy Christmas tree with curtains in the back, flowers and vines, soundwaves emanating from a source.
